Northern Sydney Area Tenants’ Service (NSATS) is a non-government organisation funded by NSW Fair Trading. We aim to provide advice to tenants in the Northern Sydney area. We believe that people have a right to legal information, advice, advocacy and representation which is accessible and relevant to their lives.

As a service of Marrickville Legal Centre, our goal is to provide free and accessible legal and related services, which are responsive to the needs of those most disadvantaged and which promote just and lasting solutions to legal and social issues in our community.

NSATS works with tenants in the local government areas of Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai, Manly,
North Sydney, Ryde, Hunters Hill, Lane Cove, Mosman, Pittwater, Warringah & Willoughby.

NSATS provides advice to tenants on their rights and responsibilities. We do not give advice to landlords. We can help you with issues such as:

Lockouts and evictions, terminations, residential tenancy agreements, repairs, rent increases, locks and security, right to privacy, bond disputes, and going to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

NSATS lobbies for law reform to help tenants. In particular we want greater protection for people who live as boarders or lodgers. Boarders and lodgers are some of our communities’ most vulnerable people. If you are a boarder and lodger and you need help, please call us on 8198 8650 (NSATS) or drop in to our office.

NSATS provides legal education sessions for community groups, community workers and other organisations on request. We have materials for participants to take away, including brochures and tenancy factsheets on various topics, which are also available in a variety of community languages. The sessions can be tailored to the needs of the participants.
